on a short trip to Bali is easily dealt with. Taking modern malaria medications will not stop you from contracting the disease but will either mitigate or hold the symptoms at bay until the medication leaves your system. The side effects of unnecessary malaria medication are often severe and ongoing. A very close friend has relentless ringing in his ears 7 years after taking medication 'just to be safe'. The other issue with taking the medication is that your skin can become sun-sensitive and your eyes light-sensitive. Not a happy holiday situation in bright and sunny Bali.
