Duty Free Melb-Kuala Lumpar-Bali

What do you do with your duty free alcohol if you buy out of Melbourne and travelling to Kuala Lumpar and then a connecting flight to Bali?Can you keep it in your hand luggage or do you put it in your check in luggage?
