Hi all,
I totally agree with nasicampur. My son a few years back had acute appendicitis (probably spelt wrong!) and we took him to SOS international clinic. He was there for 36 hours before our insurance company could arrange a lear jet and clearance from the Indonesian Government to land to airlift him out to Darwin.(as Doctors didnt recommend taht he was operated on in Bali) The clinic was $1800.00USD for 36 hours and $70,000.00 AUD for the medivac transfer out of bali to Darwin (could of been to Singapore if aircraft wasnt available to fly him to darwin) If he had not had travel insurance we would of had to mortgage our home. This is something interesting also that once you are on home soil your travel insurance doesnt cover you for your injuries. Luckily the travel insurance company we used..thru Defence Health paid for a business class ticket from darwin to Sydney (once he got out of hospital) and also private transfers home as he was still quite sick...long story cut short was he ended up in hospital again two weeks later with Peritonitis and a collapsed lung and had another 2 week stay in hospital...take head
