and Daddy surfed to his hearts content. There are 3 restaurants and about 2 main warungs. Food is cheap and good but service/cooking takes a long time - get there half an hour before you normally would. The village shops is about 1.5km's along the road, although there is a couple of small family shops along the way for bits and bobs. The 2 supermarkets have icypoles, noodles, water, toiletries and local supplies. There is a fresh fruit & vege man, a great hairdresser (best haircut in bali and so cheap), a bank, and an excellent small hospital with local doctor with good english. There is an excellent nightmarket up in the village a must for the best satay in town and desserts. Locals are very friendly, and chill no shops for clothes etc - take plenty of books - we went on heaps of walks, great shiny black sand beaches, walked through the fields, this is the spice area and ou see them all drying - really interesting. A great waterfall nearby as well as a giant banyan tree with the road going through it. You will enjoy Balian.
