Actually I stay 4-6 weeks as a rule but I still don't like to lose any time. I reckon turn a negative into a positive and do as you suggest and ask (for ask read demand, insist and grumble) to be moved to the day after. That way when you are not leaving on the night you should have been the whole afternoon and evening will feel a bit like taking a sickie from work. Bonus!
