I know I will be corrected if I'm incorrect. But it look as if you were there for 8 days, 7 nights. If you arrived on Wednesday 16th and were through immigration before midnight then you would be there for 8 days. If you had not passed through immigration before midnight then it's ok for 7 days as your first day in Bali would be Thursday 17th, which with departing on Wednesday 23rd makes 7 days.
This is what happened to me, we arrived on similar flight, I had actually paid my US$25 as I was expecting to be through immigration before midnight, but the clock ticked on, and I was still in the line after midnight, so I went back to Visa desk, explained, and they gave me back US$15.. no problems.
