Hey!

I've had my dreadlocks done by a handful of people in Bali.

I would recommend a guy named Betok.

You can get him on:
081 35333 5449 when in Bali
0011 6281 3533 5449 if calling from Australia
reggae378@hotmail.com

He can source synethetic hair to use for extensions, but does come across human hair to use from time to time. When he did my dreadlocks they were the tighter, neater and more even than ever before. I'll be using him again in the next couple of months.

For short hair i'd probably say 500,000 IDR is fair - but then you'd have to add on the cost of the extensions being purchased, dreaded and attached. When i first looked at getting dreads done in Australia I was quoted between $400 - $700 for short hair - not including extensions. So it's a really fair price.

He uses the crochet hook and will also teach your son how to maintain them the same way. He'll probably have to go about a month without washing his hair after getting them done and need to roll them between his hands every day or two. It'd be a good idea for him to get them done at the beginning of his time in Bali as salt water and chlorine help them to bond. He should also go a couple of days without washing his hair before getting them done so it's not too slippery.

If there's anything else you'd like to know - post again or e-mail Betok!
