Beware getting curtains made in Bali. We are a very frequent visitor to Bali, and after moving to a new home thought we would get curtains made there. Did all the homework reading up all the info in Bali Forum. Went to the beautiful showroom, and found just what we wanted on display in the upstairs showroom. We picked unlined curtains with a plain sheer curtain at the back for 2 windows not very large. Probably pricey at over $900 but they looked nice. We told them a day early for our departure back to Aus just in case. Nothing could go wrong!!...Well, we got a phone call to say not enough material was available for the sheer so we picked another one, still plain but a slightly different colour. So far so good.. When we went to pick them up how wrong could they be. The striped pattern was going across not down, giving a completely different look to the curtains. No problem they would re do them, and deliver to our room the night they thought we were leaving. Wanted another 3 million rupiah for the different sheer now, even tho' we had gone there and phoned a few times checking on the progress of the curtains with no mention of this before hand. We said no as we could now get them much cheaper in Aust so they agreed all was OK. Well they were delivered to our room the night they thought we were leaving, with no sheers! and the curtains not sewn as they were in the showhome. We went back to the shop and after much negotiating managed to get the sheers, no time for the others to get fixed of course. They were badly creased, and we found when they were hung in our home there is a fault right thru the material in the sheers, with tiny flecks that we thought were flecks of dirt but are actually tiny holes. They look good up overall, not as great if the pattern hd been sewn as we originally saw, with not enough gathering as a result, and of course the first time the sheers need washing, they will probably need replacing. Putting this down to experience, do not judge a shop by its appearance, and give more than a day early as a departure date, and pay just a little for the deposit. It was an expensive mistake for us. We still love Bali though, and planning our next trip!!
