They can also sell you a bus/ferry/bus/hoat trip to the Gilis using the public ferry from Padang Bai to Lembar. This option is slower and cheaper than using the Perama boat from Padang Bai.
Currently, the public ferry from Padang Bai to Lembar costs Rp 31,000 for an adult and Rp 19,000 for a child. I have used the public ferry several times. It is slow but provides an authentic third world experience.
