The past times we've taken our 3 kids (ages ranging from 10 - 16 at the time), the sneaky (and cheeky) buggers behind the bar (mostly at the hotel we were staying at, always try to 'sneak' one to the kids (but honestly, i think it is more tongue-in-cheek than anything). i think the general rule over there is: 'if you can afford to buy it, you can have it'. so basic parental supervision is always a good idea. we always used to have a laugh with the staff about it, while at the same time, making it VERY clear that under no circumstances are they to sell alcohol to the kids. We only had to tell them once and we never had any problems after that.
