Recommend, either:
- Jayakarta Private Residence in Legian in a two or three bedroom apartment. You can book directly through the NZ owners at www.puketoki.com. They are very reasonably price, immaculate and spacious. Includes two bathrooms, balcony, living area (inc. sat tv), dining and equipped kitchen. They are in the grounds of the Jayakarta Hotel, which has three large pools and is right on the beach. Easy walk to nearby restaurants on either the beach or street. Markets within easy reach, plus not far from Kuta. We stayed there in April with our young children. It was great.
- Sanur Paradise Plaza in Sanur in a two or three bedroom apartment. You can book directly with the hotel. They are also reasonably priced and there is a great kids club / supervised pool area plus water slide and playground on one side of the property and a large quiet pool area on the other. The down side of these apartments is that they are on the busy Sanur by pass, but there is regular shuttle bus to the beach or transport out the front.
Obviously Sanur and Legian offer different styles, it depends what you like. Both the properties above are around the $165 AUD per night.
Other options that we have used are Hard Rock Hotel, which is right in central Kuta, opposite beach, great pool, great kids club. Easy walk to Kuta Square. A little more expensive though. The superior rooms are small, so we would highly recommend the Family Suite in the deluxe wing, which has a small kitchenette, sitting and dining room, two toilets and plenty of bedding. This is ideal, so when the kids go to sleep (as per the apartments above) you have some where to sit and do what you want to do. If you simply get a family room, this is difficult.
Could also consider interconnecting rooms as some of the other posts have mentioned, although we find the convenience of the apartments / family suite a cheaper option.
If you have any questions on the properties above, we are happy to answer.
We have also stayed in Family Room at Green Garden in Tuban, a far smaller property with small pool, but used to be very budget, the prices have now gone up and not sure it is still the same value it was. The same owners have Febris, which has been mentioned above. We have had a look at their rooms and family rooms and they are spacious, but again, I think the prices have gone up quite a bit. Have also stayed in family rooms at Bali Garden, they are large with bunks, but one single room. We also found the pool very crowded, although the location is great.
