Hi Everyone!
My friends and I (3 of us total) are planning to visit Bali during the high season of August. We have plans to explore the Seminyak/Kuta/Legian/Tuban area and then head up to Ubud and Kintami to do more adventurous activities. We are travelers on a budget, but wouldn't mind paying more for a high quality hotel if it really adds to our experience. So my question is, is it worth it to spend the money for a nice expensive hotel in Bali? Are these Bali hotels worth it for the price? We'll also be traveling to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand; do you think it will be much more worth it to splurge on a hotel in these other areas?
Friends who have traveled to Bali recommend staying in the Seminyak area instead of Ubud, even though we'll spend equal time in both areas. I hear that hotels in Seminyak/Kuta area are better, but if spending money on a nice hotel in Bali really isn't worth it, then I wouldn't mind staying in Ubud or anywhere really.
I've checked several websites that have been really helpful, except there are so many choices and I don't know what a two star hotel will be equivalent to in the U.S. Our budget is anything below $250/night (all taxes inclusive). That's not to say we want to spend that much, but that's the max we're willing to pay for a nice quality hotel (with hopeful thinking that would be the Oberoi or Sofitel). Any suggestions and what hotels you would recommend will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Katie
