I have stayed at the hotel owned apartments last Sept. They were OK, but not as good as some of the privately owned apartments. The apartments owned by Max & Suzanne http://www.puketoki.com/ are pretty good. I am staying in another privately owned apartment in July (which looks extra nice), so will report back on that one upon our return. There are quite a few privately owned apartments in the complex, with their prices being upwards of 50% cheaper than the hotel owned apartments. Remember, you don't get breakfast included, not a big deal given that you can get a much nicer and relatively cheap brekky outside of the hotel.
