Happened to us years ago.... Started negotiations with a chap selling wood carvings, we particulary liked the 'tiger' he was polished to a high gloss, sharp teeth, lovely carving, the chap was continuosly polishing the tiger. After lengthy negotiations the chap somehow (with his polishing cloth hiding what he was doing) swapped the tiger for a dull, split tiger with blunt teeth. The only reason my husband could tell the difference was when chappy handed the tiger over he felt the teeth and knew!!!! Anyway we got the good 'tiger' and all laughed for him trying to trick us :)
(by the way i might add it was night time down on the beach)
