Glad you're enjoying the JBR Lorraine.
If you walk out of the main Tegal Sari entrance onto (I think) Jalan Hanoman,it is about an easy 10 minute walk to the Monkey Forest. There is a shortcut if you want one through the northern section of the hotel that will put you right on M.F. Rd and will reduce that walk to the forest by 5 minutes (just ask the staff).
From the Monkey Forest however it's a good 15-20 minute walk mainly uphill (it flattens out towards the top) to the markets, depending how fast you go and how long you stop to look at shops etc.I would challenge anyone to actually do it in 15 minutes without stopping.
I've walked it (with multiple stops) and I'm reasonably fit.The first 100 metres or so is quite steep once you leave the M.F.
What you'll really struggle with (as I did) is the heat and humidity.
Did you know that Tegal Sari will drop you off AND pick you up anywhere in Ubud day and night, until 10pm I think (I would double-check that finish time with reception).
We used this wonderful service many, many times.
