Some of the cafes will transport you...I know Family cafe will and its only a short car ride to places such as Shore bar and the beachfront warungs. The first thing I'd do is go to Kimen surf in the village and have a chat with the guys...ask for Kimen or Lam and tell them Lorraine and Ally say hi, then whip next door and see Eddie who owns Family cafe...he'll certainly transport you if you eat in his cafe.There is a guy I know there named catti (promounced chatti) and he does transport...I'll find his his number. The hotel has cidomo rides into the village quite often...we used to take that in then walk home or get a ride in the local bus.It really isn't far. Get an advantage plus card and it makes it much cheaper to eat and drink in the hotel...plus you get one night free. You have to get in Australia tho.If you speak to the staff at the hotel discretely I'm sure someone will be able to give you a number for transport. If you guys are into just a very chilled type of place I'm sure you'll love it. Ekas is nice but so far from anywhere...at least you have some options in Kuta. Just talk to the Kimen guys...they are really nice!
