Back again..... May 19th - Day 5 almost half way, time is flying still the weather is mild and cloudy, Judy had a rough night with a touch of a stomach bug, spent all day around pool and was fine by evening. We decided it was chill time so all spent the day around the pool, lunch at the hotel restaurant overlooking the beach. Ate dinner at Zanzibar, just down from the hotel along the beach, not the best meal, crowded and the smell of the drain permeated the air. Had our usual night cap in our room, while Judy pinned Jan's pants ready for altering. Tony had called in again to see us, so we organised for him to bring his wife Made and the two little boys Made & Putu to the hotel for dinner Weds night.
May 20th - Day 6 - I meant to say that we got a call from the "Tourist Commission" on the Tuesday, saying we had "Won a Free Stay" at a hotel of our choice..... Surprise, Surprise !!!!! Knew it was just another of the scams going around but on the day we did need a ride to Kuta Sq and Centro, so agreed to be picked up to claim our "Prize", it was a new scheme to get us to join a travel club ($5,000), so we could get wonderful accommodation anywhere in the world for less than half price, it wasn't long before the guy realised we were not interested, but he was gracious about it!!!!! Beware to those unsuspecting new Bali travelers!
More walking and shopping for the kids back home,had fitting for my coat, and dropped Jan's Giordano pants in as well for alteration. Had lunch again at the Indonational Rest (Bintang still one of the coldest). Jan bought bottle of "Paramao Root Oil", could once bring it in to Aus. but not now, beware! At this point between the two families we have bought over 300 DVD's and Cd's, hey for the deals buy 100 get 70 free, why not, (since we have been home have watched a few and not a glitch!
Tony rocked up on the scooter with family in tow, as is the norm, mum on the back with the little one and the older one standing on front with helmet and dad driving! We had a lovely dinner at the KP, although the kids took a while to warm to us strange looking people.
May 21st - Day 7 - Time is flying and we are feeling depressed, not many days to go for us, Jan & Judy are staying 'til Friday night (29th), lucky buggers!!!
Picked up coat, very happy although not quite as good as previous coat made 4 years ago, but hey, Aus $70, and it is better than off the shelf in Aus for $200. Jans pants and Judy's dress were also altered, $8 all up! More shopping for little ones back home at Jl Melasti markets, then a quick lunch at "Bali Aussie", for those who haven't checked it out, there is a great verse signwritten on the wall about the "Bali Aussie Spirit" in answer to the bombings, You can buy "T" shirts with it printed on if you wish.....
