How perceptive is your little man?! He sounds just like my kids as far as pools are concerned.
We are like you, we like the small and personal but went upmarket when the kids came along. We found it cheaper for 4 per room in 4 star than 2 per room in 3 star. Not to mention the great pools that come with them. But once you get a taste its not easy to give up completely. A few days each visit should fix that.
