Balinese leftovers served with rice. The name means "mixed rice". Usually 4,5 or 6 different dishes served on a plate with rice in the middle and each of the other foods served around the perimeter. The foods served differ from place top place but will often include the likes of chicken curry, lawar, tempe, hard boiled egg, kankung, satay, etc. It is often served cold or close to it which often causes complaint. It seems to be a way of using up leftovers and or economising on the more expensive foods. I have nothing against it but it can be superb or just pretty ordinary. Some refer to it as "nasty campur". Worth trying.

David
