Seen your posts and gather your a bit stressed about this, totally understand I would be the same. I usually check everything out fully before I book anywhere too and its hard when going with friends and using there recommendations.
I stayed at the Jayakarta about 7 years ago with fmaily, we had one bedroom apartment and one two bedroom apartment hotel owned. Just wanted to say they weer not too bad but the two bedroom apartment seemed a lot nice than the one bedroom apartment, not sure if this is the case with all of them but with us it certainly was.
We have gone every year since and usually stay in Tuban, this june we are back and staying at the Jayakarta but in a one bedroom private owned apartment as easier with two young kids to have cooking facilities and a bit more room.
I can ask around while there is any hotel owned 2 bedroom is better than another if you like? But really you are in your room minimally with kids your age (with mine, one still has a day sleep so in there a bit) and as long as its clean and tidy and serviced I think it will be okay, and being your first time you wont know any difference!
Your going to have a ball anyway and get the bali addiction and be back again next year, and if thats the case maybe check out some other hotels while your there, we seem to do that each year but usually always go back to the Ramada in Tuba, but not now with the kids getting older as there rooms are not really suitable.
