Hi Chrissy,
I spent a month in Bali a few years ago and will do so again this year. I recommend you do not miss:
In Ubud- the market and a lebong show
Denpasar- there is nothing
Kuta- good shopping, easy to rent surfboards.
Uluwatu-the temple to the south
Amed- up north to get away from it all
Climbing Danau Batur
Sanur, Nusa Dua and other famous beaches
If you have never surfed it is a great place to start- your son will certainly enjoy it!
