You can usually pick up a cheap fare if you are travelling outside the school holidays so be careful in October as you may find that you are flying in high season. Firstly I would find out what season you are in then jump onto bestflights and plug some dates in and see what appears to be cheapest. Indojet, Virgin, Jetstar etc are all around $500 - $600 although Virgin have a special for $350 but i think most seats have gone. You might find that most of the cheap seats have been sold as Bali is very popular and the planes fill up very quickly.
