Standard rooms are ok, but quite dark and a long way from breakfast. You don't have your own balcony, but there are communal balconies and sitting areas in the standard wing. The rooms are quite roomy and are similar in size as the newer superior rooms (opposite reception). For some reason people keep claiming that the standard rooms are small, but they must not have actually seen one themselves, lol.

If you get a room on the road side of the corridor, you will get road noise. Opposite side, I had no issues with noise. Though apparently the new(ish) bar that faces onto the street is quite noisy at night if you're staying in those rooms.

I have some photos of standard rooms, but they're from 2005. I don't think the standard rooms have had any renos since then though.

Honestly though, for the price they now charge for a standard room at MBR, you could do much better in the area.
