Definitely pre-book before leaving home. We were told to just rock up at his office and had to make an appointment for 5 days later, because he's gotten so busy. When you make your appt, you will need to tell him what you're going to see him for - ie, check up and clean, fillings, crowns etc. He'll be able to give you an idea of cost before you go.
