Hi and congratulations... Firstly it is nessesary to be of the one religion, be it hindu or christian , If your partner is hindu it probably would be expected that you convert.. and a hindu wedding is a lot different than a christian one, and you would need some ceremony prior to your wedding to complete the process [ so to speak]. and a lot depends on your partners family... In a way.. you as the bride have very little in put into the process.. it is centered on the man as he is ' taking you into his family' and the family has its own way..
For you to apply for a kitas married visa... 'OY' you need to have banjar approval of your wedding and prove it is legitimate, having your family present for example.. then when the local paperwork is processed you then have a civil ceremony then you can have your certificate processed then you gather every piece of paper you have ever recieved.. you hindu commitment papers.. etc .. then you take esteemed members of the family to submit .. then hand over money,, have a full police check.. more money.. then after about 8 months after the wedding you get permission to stay but you must leave the country to do this.. there may be easier ways to do all this but .. this was my exerience... good luck it does seem over whelming , but possible... you also need a non impedement certificate from the australian consulate.. so much paper work..
