given by Dave (Pak Mungkin) is spot on. I have a number of friends who do numerous trips to Bali every year. They have the same philosophy as Dave. A couple can get damn good accommodation here for less than $40 Aud per night including breakfasts.
Breaking it down to my simple standards a small icy beer costs me under 8,000 rupiah, so why pay upwards of 20,000 for the same thing?
I can get a great Sunday roast for under 40,000, so why pay double this amount?
It is possible to watch live sports telecasts in Sanur and get icy cold beer for 12,000. Yet many times people on the BTF happily nominate a sports bar that charges more than double this amount.
I have a family of three staying at my place at the moment they are doing 3 trips to Bali this year.
Recently I was in Ubud in Mangga Madu Cafe. I joined up with three friends. They had a fruit juice each. I had two beers and my wife had two juices. We then ordered two meals. The total bill came to 94,000 rupiah.(Not bad for 2 meals, 2 beers and 5 fruit juices)
Just these few simple things can save someone enough money to pay for the land content of their next trip.
