We have stayed there 7 times and know Mrs Rata, the owner, quite well. There are safety deposit boxes behind reception but none in your room. We always ask for room 294 which is a deluxe room at the back of the hotel away from the pool but this trip there was some work going on on the room right next to us and that was pretty noisy all day from early morning. Also, all the room at the back of the hotel were having problems with the TVs and the phones because Lightening hit the room block during a storm while we were there and the had not fixed the problem when we left.
Other than that, the food is good, Eddie, Ana, Julie and Negia are still there (they were there when we had our honeymoon there 24 years ago) and the pools are pretty quiet with plenty of sun beds available every day.
