You can by suitcases in Bali, but the quality varies. Mata Hari, Heroes, Tiara dewata sell them in all sizes, brands and with wheels. I bought a large, light one with zipper sides from Heroes (Denpasar) 5 years ago and it is heading back up there on friday, still in vgc.
We take take a suitcase each, every time we visit Bali packed with throw out clothes and shoes to give away and with the bare min. of clothing as well as some frozen milk and cold cheeses and anything we won't be bringing back that doesn't exceed 20kg limit and that may be useful to the Balinese. We also take an empty camera bag, hand luggage and a couple of bum bags (never been questioned in 24 years)just in case we go mad with the credit card.
We have posted stuff back home if we looked like going over. Last time (2008) we paid aud$30 to post 5kg back to aussie. The parcel beat us home.
