Initially we booked the upstairs rooms on the third floor for 250 000rp/night. We were very impressed with the size of these rooms - they are huge and have a massive double bed as well as a single bed. The downside is the walk up the stairs after a day shopping (or a night out :\ ). The other drawback is the balcony - there isn't really one - only enough room for the little clothes airer, and if it rains or is windy, clothes will end up on the balcony floor and wet.

We also stayed in the big family room, two rooms directly above the reception area with a huge balcony area that overlooks the front pool and Poppies (awesome) and a double room at the back part of the hotel, near the bigger (and much warmer) pool. This room was quite small and we only had just enough room to put all of our bags and shopping in there.

I have not stayed at the Barong, so cannot compare for you, but have stayed at Fourteen Roses, Adhi Dharma Hotel, Kuta Beach Club, and Masa Inn is certainly on a par.

We did not eat breakfast at Masa, but went over the road to Bali Agung and for 20 000rp we had an American breakfast, juice, fruit, pancake, eggs, bacon, toast and tea/coffee. Top value for money.

There is a mini-mart next door to Masa and a bar directly opposite. There are also some really nice places to eat in Poppies, so a great location, and excellent value-for-money.
