Will be there for a few days later this year and was wondering about hiring a car. Have never driven in Bali - decided it really wasn't necessary - and probably hasn't been, but this area is a bit different. Is there less traffic to negotiate overall? Have driven in Thailand on many occasions, but the road ifrastructure there is great - a whole different ball game - and the locals do tend to obey road rules. The freedom to get around the east coast on our own is really enticing.
