You get a plastic card (like an eftpos card) that is your 'key' into your room, and for your lights/power. Your WiFi and Air Conditioning credit is LOADED onto the micro chip in the card.
Check out time is 10am and your card is deactivated automatically and you can't even use it to re-enter the room - gotta love technology lol
You can pre-book on-line, we usually just do it when we check in, I don't think its any cheaper/dearer either way.

We are staying with them again in October (at the Low Cost Terminal, its walking distance, we got it for 5c a night), then whilst in Penang, then again at the LCT on the return trip from Bali.
Not sure if I would stay with them in Bali, I like having a pool :-)
