Got back from The Patra on the 20th of March having spent 1 week staying in the Club Rooms. We travelled with a second timer, her husband was a bali virgin and their 18 month old daughter. Needless to say that the "Bali Virgin" fell in love with the Balinese straight away (as we all do).

They will post their own JBR but I want to tell you all about some aspects of The Patra and its surroundings.

The Club is not as good as a lot of the clubs we have enjoyed at other places but want I enjoyed about this one is it is a lovely place to go at 4pm for 2 hours of free cocktails and some nibbles. The nibbles are basic but some nights they were delicous. But it was nice to get out of the heat and have 2 hours of drinking, relaxing, drinking, talking oh did I mention the drinking.

All the staff at the Patra are fantastic and do enjoy guests speaking to them so make the effort. They love kids. The Club staff are unbelievable. One especially called Annie (spelling?) she would have to be the loveliest Balinese person I have ever met. And Ive been 19 times. She made our holiday no doubt about that.

We found the drink and food at the hotel expensive but nice, breakfast plentifull and the rooms fantastic. I have stayed here 4 times and have loved it each time.

We found the walkway hot so we caught taxis's.

That brings me to the most important thing. When you take a taxi to and from you go past a new pub just before the Patra called BUGILS BALI. It is opposite a new hotel called the Harris. Its address is JL Dewi Sartika. website www.bugilsbali.com

This is only a 3 minute walk from the entrance of the Patra down the side roads. If you are unsure ask the security guards at the front of the hotel they will direct you.

It has the coldest beer and a very reasonable price for a pub. The food is not extensive but is delicous and very reasonable. The staff are very friendly and they have live music most nights and they let you join in (fools). It doesn't get packed as it its not well known as yet.

Go and check it out. Ask for Widi (she is great) tell her Jeff and Kalan sent you and you might jag a free beer. Dinkum.

The Patra puts a lot of people off as there is not a lot of eateries close. This is now the answer to the problem The BUGILS BALI is really worth the visit for a drink, eat and a sing-a-long.

Well enough of that from me. I cant wait to read what Aussie Chic has to say when she does her JBR. Thats who we travelled with. And we are all booking the same next year.

Im happy to answer any questions.
