I bought a suitcase last time at Matahari; a soft shell, expandable one. It's the best case I have bought, the handles, zips and wheels all good and it was a bargain buy compared to what I would have paid in Australia. Even the taxi driver commented "aah, good bag" :)
Fully packed and expanded I fit just over 30kgs in it.
I found the shops on the street selling well known brands (Samsonite etc) to be expensive. I didn't bother looking at cases at market stalls as I was after decent quality. Bintang Supermarket were selling a few different size cases upstairs but they were a bit flimsy.
Discovery Mall had suitcases selling in the middle of the shopping centre on the ground floor, not sure if they are still selling there.
