I'm a yank, but am reading this forum because we will be going to Bali in May. I've seen a lot on the prices in Bali. It still seem pretty cheap to me (we went there in 2002).
In view of the world wide economic turndown, we in the US are seeing a lot more "deals" in Mexico and the Caribbean right now and this is the high season there.
It's probable you will see that as well in Bali.
Part of the increase in costs to you is the increased value of the US dollar. That is good for us (not the hotels, but most other things), but it makes things more expensive for Oz residents.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing you Aussies. The last time we came was six weeks after the Kuta bombing and Bali was pretty much deserted.
