I think Lina Hotel at Senggigi would be very good for kids. It is only a two metres from the sea. The sea is very calm without rocks or currents.

Lina Hotel is opposite the Perama Terminal in Senggigi. When you walk out of the hotel and to your left, you are in the Senggigi shopping strip with many restaurants and cafes.

The downside of Lina Hotel is that the price does not include breakfast and it is opposite a bar which has live music until midnight. Depending on your ears, this is either free entertainment or unwelcome noise.

Aldi Homestay is in the village on Gilli Trawangan. You will have to walk 80 metres to the beach. The upside is that you are nowhere near the drunks in the bars facing the beach.

Kuta Lombok is pretty but really a surfie village. Mataram is an Indonesian town with nothing to amuse foreign children.
