I have done alot of research on this as I too have cancer, hoping for remission to to return for short stints of work in Indonesia. If the cancer is prostate then it is possible if the blood test is of a certain level, otherwise, no. Travel insurance companies in Oz at least cannot knock back insurance for other things like being hit by a car or having baggage stolen as this is a high court verdict. Insurance should not effect other family members.
My plan will be to have enough money in the visa to get the next flight home if feeling unwell and not telling the airline the reason for the earlier flight as they will only panic. If I need an evac then I will just have to fork out from the super.
Someone recently though did tell me about taking out evacuation only insurance without pre conditions, awaiting details and will post as this question comes up from time to time on the forum.
If the person feels well and positive then go for it and have a fantastic time.
