Just got back last night, in between washing and unpacking thought i would start my JBR while everything is still fresh in the old grey matter...
We left Monday 16th Feb, drove from Busselton to Perth to get the 7.30pm Virgin flight to Bali - this was a bit different for us as we usually go Garuda on the early morning flight.
Parked car in long term parking ($100 for 9 nights) and off to the terminal to check in. Had a couple of drinks at the bar (not cheap $9 for a glass of wine which was only filled to the 150ml line) oh well, im on holidays, who gives a toss? Had a quick Eagle boys pizza at the airport before boarding.
Virgin was very different to Garuda, the staff were cracking jokes before we took off. I jokingly asked the male attendant why we always get put at the back of the plane (which we do for some reason) he grinned cheekily and said "we always put the troublemakers at the back!" cheeky bugger!
Flight was good, although I would definately next time bring either a laptop or DVD player as usually on Garuda by the time you eat and watch the movie you are over halfway there. With this flight it seemed to take forever. I would say I prefer Garuda, firstly because the flight gets you there before lunch and secondly with the Balinese attendants you feel like your already halfway there.
Finally off the plane at Denpasar and out of the airport in the space of about 15 minutes total, yay.
Straight to the taxi rank (is pretty busy at this time of night - took longer to get a taxi than to get through the airport)paid our 50,000 and off to the Puri Raja.
We arrived at the Puri Raja feeling a little tired after a long day. The room was great, on the ground level which we requested due to the boss's bad back. it was beautiful, very light and fresh looking. There was a lovely bouquet of flowers and a basket of fruit in the room, this was probably because when booking I had emailed the hotel about a few things and mentioned we had had our honeymoon there back in 1995.
More about the hotel and other things to come.
