Even if you had a liscence there would be no cover as you are not renting from a hire company just a local with a bike. If anything happens you will be chased down by the locals and asked to pay for any repairs. While we there in January a young Aussie guy had a serious bike accident, unconscious and transferred to Bali and later to Sydney. I am good friends with the person that rented them the bike and they did not pursue him for the money as he was unconscious. They just got his contact details and were hoping that he would contact them once he was better. And karma paid off for them the husband won 70 million on the lotto numbers from Singapore, and I am sure they are no longer concerned about the bike.

But it is nothing like Bali as far as riding a bike and the traffic conditions, our son actually learned to ride on lembongan at nine years old. Its very safe, just be careful on the big hill thats where most of the accidents happen.
