There is a volunteer organisation in Ubud known as B.A.W.A. They help all the stray dogs in Bali by desexing/feeding/treating mange etc. They also take puppies off the street to adopt them out to Bali families, so your volunteering job will involve socialising and playing with these pups!
I did it last year and will be going back in a couple of months, it was fantastic.
