I used a similar setup to Scotto, had a large upright plate stirrup bolted to a concrete pad then with a chainsaw took a cut up through the centre of the coconut palm pole to required depth, measured and drilled to line up with holes in the stirrup and secured the pole with cyclone rod with washers and nuts each side,make sure all is square so your top plate and roof sections fit properly
