I have stayed at the Petiwi on monkey forest lane. It is close to the markets and of course the monkey forest... lots of different types of accommodation available in the resort..found it clean, friendly staff, nice pools, brekky was buffet style and the restaurant was on the street side, something to look at while you eat. Also have drivers that are waiting to take you on a tour. Ubud is quite hilly so u have to walk up a hill (not very steep mind u)to get to the streets where the main markets are...but then Ubud is built on a hill so no matter where u stay u will probs have to walk up or down a hill anyways. Price - I can't remember stayed there in March 2007 but I am sure it was reasonable as I am only your average wage earner. Ubud is well worth a stay or at least a visit.......hope this helps :)
