Dennis yes if you have an Indonesian driving licence(not temporary) you can get an Indonesian international driving permit that allows you to drive your Indonesian classes in Australia.

Just the same as British people who live in Australia and have a British licence as well as an OZ one.

My old British licence is valid from when I was 17 until I am 85,the old type that does not need to be renewed.

I only have car on my British licence but all classes on my Australian licence.

In my traveling days I used to work in the UK to fund second leg of travels and my Australian licence along with international permit allowed me to drive the classes on my Oz licence and take out vehicle insurance, even though I did not have those classes on my British licence.

You must have travel insurance bought in Indonesia to be covered by your travel insurance while driving in OZ on an international permit.

If you want to drive in the same state for more than 3 months you must swap to Oz licence of that state.

Hope this makes sense.
