We did that flight a few weeks ago and all was great. You don't need to book, you can buy a hot meal on board, it cost $15, I didn't have one and from what I saw I didn't miss much! You can also buy sandwiches and snacks but the sandwiches sold out by row 4! We were in row 5. I think it's easier to take some snacks with you. We didn't need anything as we spent a couple of hours in the Qantas club lounge before the flight and felt we could last a few hours (made up for it when we arrived though!) . We did hire the movie player for our 5yr old and that was money well spent! It was $10 and had quite a few movies and kids TV shows. They just ask if you want the movie player when you are on board. Have a great holiday. Cheers Vicki
