Article in the Courier mail last week (I think)
There has been a massive decline in forward bookings to Bali and hotels are offering deals on rooms .
2 To 4 star are slashing rates and 5 star are offering exta nites .
So if you are looking to go to go to Bali in non peak times it may be woth your while to contact hotels direct and start haggling .
The hotel that I stay at initialy quoted $65 US a nite Inc Breakfast .
Which was a rise of $15 US on the stay in Augaust . After negociation (lots) rate was reduced to $52.US .
I think that with the price rises they planed for after March in conjuntion with the decline in the A$ vers US$ they miscalulted
on the effect it would have on trafic to Bali .
As was said in the article it made other places in Asia much more attractive on cost of the full holiday.
By the way wholesalers who offer accomadation pacages in Bali such as Flight Centre etc pay for it in US$ they so they are sensitive to the Exchange rate Vs the US$ most of the increases in the last
6 months reflect this .
Last year Bali attracted 1.9 million tourists it was prdicted that there would be a 25 to 30% fall in numbers in the next year.
