Hi,
I just got back and would recommend taking Aussie dollars from home and then changing at the money changers as you need them. The exchange rate at home was only 6000 rupiah but on the streets in Bali it was 7600 rupiah. We just kept out aussie dollars in the safe in our room. There are plenty of other money changers apart from the kodak ones. Just go to one that gives you a receipt and you should be fine. The dodgy smaller ones look dodgy anyway and generally have much higher exchange rates. If it's too good to be true then it usually is....
Our driver Gorgeous Kamahl would take us to the "honest" money changers whenever we were with him too. He has very reasonable prices and is open to negotiation. Apart from that he is a top guy and knows the area well. Book him on +628123841977. Tell him Jon and Kim sent you!
Have fun!
