We stayed at the Dynasty and found that their prices had gone up astronomincally. A large Bintang in the restaurants was 58,000 Rp - I can gte it for half that price in Melbourne. Also little extras like free massages for guests had been reduced from 2 to 1. Then I saw next season's prices and I almost dropped my overpriced Bintang. The prices were pretty much doubling in Australian dollars. We have stayed at the Dynasty many times (including when it was deserted in the times following the bombings) but never have we felt so much that they were trying to get every last cent out of us. Every cost was being pushed on us. As we have stayed there approx 10 times I thought that they might be accomodating for a few hour late check-out for no extra charge. How wrong could I be. The place was pretty much empty as it was the week following the end of the Australian school holidays and even a request for staff to ask the manager was fruitless. US$30 for checking out 4 hours late for regular guests in an empty building. We really got the impression that they were just taking us for granted due to the high occupancy rates that he returned to the hotel over the last year or so. Let's hope that these resorts don't cut off their nose to spite their face. A lot of goodwill can be lost in these situations. I cannot understand why Indonesian owned resorts cannot charge in Rp rather than US$. I agree - I think it is just GREED. Let's hope things change - mayeb it will take the GFC to wake them up again.
