things like that upset me since living here, my husband hasn't, he gets very angry. I have learnt to laugh it off as I don't believe getting myself upset over something like that is worth it.
It's always the young guys in the back of the trucks on their way to work. I used to want to give them the 'bird' but now I laugh it off.
There are a lot of things I have learnt about the Balinese men that have surprised me, especially after living in a small village for 2 years and then coming down south. The traditional village Balinese never cat whistled etc, but then again, they were always bragging to my husband about having a mistress (or two) and telling him he should get one, so when it comes to men behaving badly, it does not matter where they are from. I just find the Balinese more upfront about it. The same as they are about everything, like my Balinese girlfriend telling me I look fatter or older today, it used to upset me until I realised that is not her intention.
