You know the age of the kids and whether they have common sense etc etc.
Also, walk around at what time??
I would say that as a general statement, given sensible kids, it's not a problem, but not after dark, when a different scene emerges.
The traffic is the only real issue that comes to mind, as they may not be aware of one way streets and different driving/riding habits.
Again, it comes down to common sense.
