I went in December, with a one year old and a two year old. The holiday went pretty well, and we're heading back in August.
Bath time was a challenge, so I really only bathed them occasionally. I figured being in the pool all day got them clean! When I did bath them, I used bottled water and kept it quick.
We rented an apartment so we could cook for them so they ate healthily and avoided food poisoning.
The locals were great with them. We used Casey the nanny often recommended here. She is based in Sanur. Just search for her details if you're interested. She really helped us to have a bit of time off. I can't wait to see her again in August. She is just wonderful with children.
Having a pram was good for the airport and shopping centres, but it was a bit of a pain on the footpaths. It was still worth it though.
We used Bali Baby Hire, who provided a portacot and microwave to make things easier. You probably wouldn't need any of this with an almost 4 year old though, but it's good to know the service is there.
Oh, one more thing - mosquito nets and aeroguard type stuff are useful. We went in the wet season and ours got bitten alive whenever we forgot to apply RID.
Good luck!
