Ok, I have read some comments on my article. Yes, I know there are also a lot of nice things to say aout Bali, yes, I know there are also nice and honest local people there and yes, I know there are a lot of people that came from other islands to search for work. And believe me, all that work would never have been done when, for example, the Javanese would not have come to Bali to do the hard labour and so called dirty work locals often don't want to do. I think it is shameful that especially those people are being looked down upon and regarded by the locals as the source of the problems like theft and so on.
Anyway, I hope this opens a discussion on how to improve a situation on a beautiful island like Bali. Do you all agree it is a matter of education by the (local) government itself? And that a certain amount of disciplin can be implemented by the government just by educating it's people? Do you also agree that discriminating tourists, no matter where they come from, with regards to prices they have to pay is a silly thing? Ok, in every country we can find positive stuff as well as negative stuff, also in my country, and even people from my country coming to Bali too often don't realize they are in another country with another culture and have to respect the local habits, appearing in a supermarket with only their swimming suits on (.....) but since Bali is (to my opinion) too many times hailed as the paradise on earth which obviously it isn't, I think it is correct to also show the reverse side. And to people who come to Bali for the first time it is simply a warning. No offense to the good ones.
